9/15/2011 1:00:29 PM Originally Posted By nhsport: One of the problems is that the firearms/accessory business is just not that big. I belong to a decent sized gun club (500members and their families) about 200 active shooters who likely own 100 ARs. Many only one, some of us 5 or 6 (ok 175 Ars at the top end) I guess about 30 or 40 of these guns are railed up and only 15 have rail covers. This would be spread out across 5 or 6 different companies I am completely guesstimating here but the business just isn’t that big. One of us gun nuts that buys all this stuff thinks up a new product and thinks they are going to make a ton of cash doesn’t stop to think that gun owners are only a slice of the population and most gun owners buy just a couple of factory guns and use them just like they come from the factory As others have said anything but a little hobby business gets strangled by setup costs. The actual production cost of an item is not the major consideration The smart guys are the ones who can take a product that is already produced and adapt it to the firearms industry ,repackage, market and profit You can’t tell me 95% of the gun lubes and cleaning supplies are nothing but automotive stuff that is repackaged I can agree there… I don’t buy many of the Gun accessories because I can’t afford to pay $70 for a vertical grip. The only vertical grip I have, I won for free! Tasked with the decision between $40 rail covers or no rail covers, I will choose no rail covers. I agree that the market is limited for AR15 Gun accessories but in my opinion, the cost itself keeps the market from growing. ETA: The fact that Falcon Industries patented the idea of rail covers and sued everyone else doesn’t make the accessory market cheaper. Gyrene84

2/17/2012 11:41:52 PM I added the TVNC TLS TX4 600 lumen head, super bright and a lot of spill. I wished it had a tighter cone but the light output increase from the stock bulb was amazing. Still a heavy light but runs like a champ. I originally had the head on my surefire 870 foregrip, it lasted almost 2 years of almost constant slug abuse and finally kicked the bucket. TVNC’s customer service was great and exchanged it no questions asked. Now it’s on my AR, much less recoil so I’m sure it’ll last much longer. Lancelot

If all you have are 3 rounds for some reason, please do not post the data until you can put together a full 5-10 rounds to test and then post the data. Hopefully that covers it. Here’s the format I thought we should try to use. If anyone has suggestions or modifications, please im me and we’ll discuss it. Bullet – Bullet BC – Powder – Primer – Brass – Barrel Length – OAL – Powder Charge – Crimp – Average FPS – Min – Max – STDEVA – Sample Size – Fill in what you can. If you do not have the means to get the STDEVA – Stand Deviation, message me the data and I will provide it for you. Sample size is not the same as group size. Sample size refers to the number of rounds you tested for this data. 3 rounds fired is not statistically significant. 5 is not great either, but if that is what you have, that is better than 3. 10 is the preferred sample size, please try to test 10 rounds before posting, I do not feel that is asking too much. If there are any other variables you feel you need to mention, ie – the rifle was suppressed, you like 12,000 feet above sea level, you are super cool and have a windless worm tunnel free from atmospheric pressures you tested the rounds in, WHATEVER, please notate this at the beginning of your post so folks see it before they go playing Billy the Bullet Maker. . . I have intentionally left off a spot for group size. This was done to avoid cherry pickers. If you want to post pictures or report how your reloads grouped, that’s fine and I am not going to try to internet police that; however, I STRONGLY SUGGEST folks WORK UP THEIR RELOADS and not just start with a receipt they found on the internet. Lets be safe, help each other out and have some fun guys. My first post will be coming shortlyThank you Mark (Larue Tactical and Fingar) for featuring our selector in this awesome video
