Link To This PostI posted this in the SKS Rifle Stocks forum but haven’t heard anything so I’m trying here. I’m looking for a threaded barrel for a chinese sks. Anybody know of any reputable dealers or am I just gonna have to roll the dice on gunbroker?

I have a YHM angle mount, I’ll have to try it on my A2 carbine with the Surefire and Dieter.
I used it before with the TD tape switch rail cover but really didn’t find it to give me any advantage over the 9:00 mounting.

No problem.

It’s a three slot. I got it with some other stuff, thinking I’d never really attach it.
It surprised me how how much I like it…The push-button lines up with the tip of my thumb perfectly and casts less of a barrel shadow with it further form the rail.

Here it is for a lefty like me, works really well and the ARMS throw lever (underneath) barely clears the Dieter grip by -0.25mm.
I got this 5 slot angle Scope Mount and thumbscrews from Brightflashlights when I was experimenting around light and tape switch positions.
I finally came into the 21st century (difficult for an old guy like me) and got a verticle grip for the carbine from Rusty at DSGArms.com.
With the light set pretty far back, it’s really easy to strobe the light with your thumb while maintaining controll of the weapon.
Many thanks mfingar, I had forgotten about even having the angle mount.

That said I use the GG&G Trijicon ACOG mount, I like that single lever and these mounts are built plenty strong enough to handle major abuse. That BUIS will most likely be for show anyways. Most of the M16A4 users in Iraq don’t even opt to bolt them on. I guess I just don’t see the non-hypothetical advantage and would rather spend the coin on ammo. I have heard of more Matech’s damaged beyond repair in combat/training than I have ACOG’s. Come to think of it, I have not heard of an Trijicon ACOG failing in the field. Just my .02 and if someone can de-bunk it I may spend the $150 or whatnot to get me a throw-lever mount. There was a thread at the start of the war where there were photos of a Trijicon ACOG that was shot and saved a guys life. ACOGs get shot. Shot optics dont work. Military guys dont “choose” to not have BUIS… they often did not have them issued, especially at the start of the war because of budgetary reasons. Your line of thinking is a bad one IMO.

What do you know that EOTech doesn’t on fixing it if it’s broken? Ebay would be a good place but even so your going to be paying $ for a busted sight. EOTech are not basic redot’s like the AP is. There’s more complex electronics involved. The higher the tech the easier it is to break.

I know people are crazy about those Aimpoint Micro’s. Other than “its the newest thing”…. what are the positives over a M2/M3 style body? I understand there is a weight savings, which isnt really important to me as the difference is miniscule. Do they offer any advantages on target acquisition, or do they reduce the amount of FOV blockage?
