As far as fit around the trigger, it is tight, and a little hard to get the trigger group back in when cleaning the gun. I also swapped the original grip into the Mesa Stock. I liked the shape of it better, as the Mesa grip was boxed off at the rear. MDracer76, I appreciate [...]

Way easier to tug a lever, dump the scope, and transition to your back up iron sights. There is no point in adding a BUIS if you cannot get it into action very quickly. That said I use the GG&G Trijicon ACOG mount, I like that single lever and these mounts are built plenty strong enough to handle major abuse. That BUIS will most likely be for show anyways. Most of the M16A4 users in Iraq don’t even opt to bolt them on. I guess I just don’t see the non-hypothetical advantage and would rather spend the coin on ammo. I have heard of more Matech’s damaged beyond repair in combat/training than I have ACOG’s. Come to think of it, I have not heard of an Trijicon ACOG failing in the field. Just my .02 and if someone can de-bunk it I may spend the $150 or whatnot to get me a throw-lever mount. There was a thread at the start of the war where there were photos of a Trijicon ACOG that was shot and saved a guys life. ACOGs get shot. Shot optics dont work. Military guys dont “choose” to not have BUIS… they often did not have them issued, especially at the start of the war because of budgetary reasons. Your line of thinking is a bad one IMO.

See the threads on that, there’s an entire post dedicated to EOTech problems. 2nd, why would you like to take a EOTech apart? For what purpose? What do you know that EOTech doesn’t on fixing it if it’s broken? Ebay would be a good place but even so your going to be paying $ for a busted sight. EOTech are not basic redot’s like the AP is. There’s more complex electronics involved. The higher the tech the easier it is to break.

I know people are crazy about those Aimpoint Micro’s. Other than “its the newest thing”…. what are the positives over a M2/M3 style body? I understand there is a weight savings, which isnt really important to me as the difference is miniscule. Do they offer any advantages on target acquisition, or do they reduce the amount of FOV blockage? The D AR-15 Stocks was beefed up around the buffer tube area as deemed necessary in a combat situation, not that a broken AR-15 Stocks AR won’t still function it just won’t function as well. Doesn’t really matter as you probably won’t see more than 6 C types in a lifetime of messing with these things unless working for the govt and even then they haven’t been produced since 1964 so most are long gone. You will see a bunch that are just sanded down type D’s if you stay with retro for any length of time. Was a real popular mod in retroland in the beginning as they command a lot more coins. As far as that goes I’ve seen a B&W production photo in the early 60′s showing an employee sanding a AR-15 Stocks.

Negative. The D & C have different profiles on the bottom. It can be hard to see in a picture, but if you have the two in front of you it is easy to see.

2/23/2006 1:54:50 AM I’ve got both, a Fulton receivered Bush build and aSpringfieldfull size. Both are great. The Fulton receiver leaves a bit to be desired in the external looks department. Needs more finish work. But perfectly functional. The 7.62 is better suited to a longer barrell, but you aren’t turning it into a peashooter with an 18″ barrell. Comparing mine side by side, the shorter barrell does have a bit more noise to it, not objectionable but is there. Anytime you shorten the barrell, you’re gonna increase the noise a bit. Same with muzzle flash usually. As far as range, you’re sight calibrations won’t be quite right at longer ranges, but the notion of any rack grade, iron sighted 7.62 gas gun shooting standard ball ammo having an effective range of 900 meters, much less with a carbine length barrell is a bit laughable.(Isolated AFPJ stories notwithstanding)Yeah, every magazine’s gonna have one or two “golden BBs” in at that range, but that’s far from meaning that’s the effective range, which last time I checked, was the range at which hit probability drops below 50%. H2O_MAN 2/23/2006 7:30:33 AM bishopm14: the notion of any rack grade, iron sighted 7.62 gas gun shooting standard ball ammo having an effective range of 900 meters, much less with a carbine length barrell is a bit laughable. No kidding, it’s being done with rifles that are far beyond rack grade. 30Caliber

2/23/2006 7:02:43 PM Fulton is pricy and their backlog is measured typically in months (as in 6-18). They do make a nice rifle though. Lethal_Addict

With a LT110 you should be able to.

33shooter,

When I checked with LaRue Tactical about a year ago, I was told that they had nothing that would allow me to fit the EOTech 612, 3x magnifier, and BUIS on a 6920. They told me if I switched to Aimpoint I could do it…..but I really prefer the EOTech and don’t want to switch. I can’t remember exactly what the problem was that they were explaining. But if I remember, that little raised patch of rails on the LT110 was only designed to be compatible with a night vision scope. The LT110 will not fit a swing- to- the- side magnifier on it’s small patch of rails. (I can’t remember if they said their would be a cowitness problems with the BUIS too.) All I remember for sure was I that had to drop the idea because they told me on two different occassions that it could not be done.

I’ll check again this year and see if they have anything new that will work.

I’ll say one thing about LaRue Tactical compared to the turds at EOTech……

It sticks out too far. Its all cluster fuck in the gun bag and in the safe. I like to leave a rifle bipod on this one rifle (20inch HBAR) and on my precession rifle. Top_Secret 12/13/2010 1:17:14 PM Larue sells a Harris Bipod integrated with their scope mounts that has a lower profile. 77Bronc 12/13/2010 7:53:41 PM I see Harris Bipod as an old company, stuck in the rut of doing the same thing over and over…. I could see where they have a grand opportunity to make some waves with new stuff, but wil not… Take for instance the Atlas company, if you believe how he got started, it was with a rejection from Haris for some ideas he had…. I for one believe people will pay for a good product, and I really considering the Atlas rifle bipod for my next build. Just my $.05 77 madcratebuilder 12/14/2010 11:20:15 Originally Posted By 77Bronc: I see Harris Bipod as an old company, stuck in the rut of doing the same thing over and over…. I hear grips about the Atlas cost but by time you buy a Harris Bipod , pod loc, and scope mounts you have almost as much invested as the Atlas. The Atlas is a very well made bi pod. woode 12/15/2010 10:17:24 Originally Posted By madcratebuilder: Originally Posted By 77Bronc: I see Harris Bipod as an old company, stuck in the rut of doing the same thing over and over…. STJ 12/15/2010 8:19:27 PM As mentioned…LaRue makes a great upgraded Harris Bipod . It has a built in QD scope mounts and improved swivel lock. vanrichten 12/15/2010 9:56:30 PM I would love to get an Atlas but I refuse to use an ARMS mount. Does anyone know if they use a standard 17S and if so, can I get a scope mounts from Larue instead of the damn ARMS?

I noticed on some of the pictures that it’s all across the top rail. Is this a personal preference issue? The guy at the gun shop last night said to remove my rear flip up battle sight and put the EOTech all the way to the back of the rail. What’s everyone’s opinion?

The guy at the gun shop is a moron. You can place the EOTech wherever you like. Try various positions at the range and see which one allows you to be most effective.

Just picked my new XPS. Where should I install the XPS on the top rail? In front of the rear sight, in the middle?
